I love dogs, I love my job, so getting up early is no problem. I make breakfast and feed my own two dogs, Labradors Mabel and Stanley. Then it’s into my van to collect my doggie guests for the first session of the day. Collecting / delivering also allows me to catch up with the owners. I have a great relationship with all my pup parents. I consider many of them, good friends. I love to chat about their pets and any concerns or questions they may have. We often end up chatting about food, as another of my passions is canine nutrition and giving helpful advice around this.
It melts my heart when I arrive to collect the pups and my little fur friend is sat at the window waiting eagerly.
Many owners have told me that they can’t mention my name as the dog would just sit and wait all day! I’m referred to as ‘Aunty Jo or Jo Jo’ and treated as part of the family. I have a very special relationship with my pups and their owners. They appreciate, with my care, their pups are confident, happy dogs who behave well.
Working outside in all weathers has it challenges but spending all day with my CC pups makes it all worth it. I’m usually finished by 15.30 having enjoyed plenty of fresh air and fun times. Meanwhile all the pups have been dropped off. They’re tired mentally and physically but importantly wagging their tails as they head into their homes. We’re all happy!
